This blog
News and commentary about Oak Park, Illinois, that becomes material for Jim Bowman’s A Short History of Oak Park. Volume One is published, at lulu.com, as a Blithe Spirit Publication.
It is available at lulu.com and at Oak Park’s Book Table, on Lake Street across from the Lake Theater.
What appears on this blog may appear in future volumes, making an ongoing Short History. It’s a different kind of history — part chronicle, part commentary, part — ah! — poetry.
Bowman, an Oak Parker off and on since first grade, was a Chicago Daily News reporter (on religion) and a Chicago Tribune columnist (on Chicago history). He and his wife raised their kids in Oak Park, sending them to Beye, Emerson, and Oak Park & River Forest High School in the 70s, 80s and 90s.
